Safety is fundamental to any project, whether in mining, manufacturing, or services. Staying updated on best practices and emerging technologies is not just important—it’s crucial. Adopting a proactive approach is essential to safeguard workers' well-being and ensure overall success. Focusing on the environment, health, and safety is integral to our corporate philosophy. Accordingly, L&T Construction & Mining Machinery is committed to conserving the environment and providing its employees and stakeholders with a healthy and safe workplace. Our slogan, Home Safe Every Day, exemplifies this philosophy.

L&T Construction and Mining Machinery have been at the forefront of organising worker safety workshops. Here are some best practices and emerging technologies in Construction safety:

Comprehensive Safety Training is not just a part of our operations; it's a cornerstone. We leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all Construction workers are adequately trained in safety protocols, equipment operation, and emergency procedures. L&T Construction and Mining Machinery established the Safe and Accident-Free Committee (SAFAL). Since its inception, SAFAL has been instrumental in our concerted effort to develop a comprehensive approach towards establishing a safety culture across L&T CMB, instilling confidence in our safety measures. The SAFAL Committee's focus on Health and Environmental issues demonstrates our commitment to EHS.

The SAFAL Committee spearheads all the initiatives in L&T CMB for sustaining effective EHS management through:

• Digitalisation initiatives of the EHS Management system

• Identify safety hazards and risks associated with CMB's operations by conducting periodic audits, inspections, and surveys to acknowledge the countermeasures.

• EHS promotional programs are organised to mark significant days such as National Safety Day, Environment Day, L&T Safety Day, Traffic Safety Month, etc.

• Periodical review and monitoring of various EHS parameters.

• Incorporate applicable EHS requirements across all processes right from tendering, planning, design, recruitment and procurement, production, execution, operation and maintenance to align with their respective business objectives

• Meet or exceed all applicable legal and other compliance obligations in the country of operation

• Pay serious attention to workers's welfare, especially to their habitat, to improve morale and retention, and thereby productivity

• Impart structured training, augment skills and promote the correct behaviour for effective EHS performance.

• Prevent adverse environmental impact and occupational health and safety risks

• Conserve natural resources, minimise waste generation, and reduce carbon intensity.

• Encourage communication, consultation, participation of the workforce, and collaboration with all stakeholders

• Establish SMART EHS objectives to permanently reduce EHS risks by eliminating hazards or substituting with less harmful equipment, materials, methods, and review implementation to achieve continual improvement.

This policy is to be communicated to all our stakeholders and reviewed periodically to ensure that it remains relevant to our business and practical to improve performance. By integrating these best practices and emerging technologies into Construction safety protocols, project managers and site supervisors can create safer work environments, reduce accidents, and ultimately improve project efficiency and success.
